Ford Model A utility being pushed through deep sand on Cribb Island at the mouth of the Brisbane River. This vehicle would have been assembled in Australia from Canadian and US parts, probably 1928 or '29, and fitted with a locally made wooden utility body and cab. All Ford Model A's were equipped with wire wheels as standard and Australian examples had their frames strengthened with Australian oak to cope with the rough road conditions here. Cribb Island is now largely occupied by Brisbane Airport (2005). State Library of Queensland, Wikimedia.
